BIG NUMBERS
English people don't normally write numbers with words, but it's possible to do this--and of course this will show how we say the numbers. In writing large numbers, American English uses a comma ( , ) to separate thousands, millions, etc. American English also uses a hyphen ( - ) to separate "tens" words (twenty, fifty, etc.) and "ones" words (one, three, six, etc.) Examples:

It is also a tradition to watch a game of American football on this date, just before dinner.
Some people even get a four-day-weekend, so it is widely used for touristic purposes as well. Parades are organized in towns and cities on this ocasion, being the biggest one in New Tork City.
It is a secular festival, consequently, it is the most celebrated one in the USA, even more than Christmas.
What are the origins of this celebration?
It has been claimed that the first Thanksgiving celebration was held in Texas in 1598. Another event took place in the Virginia Colony in 1619. However, the official origins of Thanksgiving could be related to the harvest celebration that the Pilgrims held in Plymouth in 1621.
Paying thanks to the harvest has become popular, and it is celebrated in different times and places. The first official Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed By George Washington, the first American president, in 1789.
In the UK people celebrate Harvest day around this date.

Sing the song:
Little Pilgrim
Little Pilgrim clothed in gray
on that first Thanksgiving Day
Natives also clothed in brown
come to visit Plymouth town
side by side they ate and prayed
on that first Thanksgiving Day
Let's be thankful for this day
for our friends
and for play.
Let's be thankful, let's be glad
for our foodand the thinks we have.
Let's give thanks for you and me
and our home and family.
